Documents reveal Fauci received $15M in security expenses after leaving office

According to documents obtained by Open the Books, Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, received a taxpayer-funded security detail worth $15 million after his retirement in December 2022.

This security arrangement, provided by the U.S. Marshals Service through an agreement with Health and Human Services, covered the period from January 2023 to September 2024.

The security arrangement for the former federal employee was unlike anything seen before. It consisted of a chauffeur, a full security staff, and transportation services.

The U.S. Marshals Service, which usually prioritizes the protection of judges and witnesses, has been dealing with budget constraints in recent years. As a result, the significant level of protection provided has sparked concerns about the allocation of resources.

Dr. Fauci, the prominent figure in the U.S. pandemic response, revealed that he still faces death threats as a result of his prominent position and constant public scrutiny. He believes that these threats have significantly increased the level of danger he faces.

Critics are raising concerns about the fairness of the arrangement, as they point out that there are other public figures who have not been granted taxpayer-funded security.

An example of this is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who, despite facing documented threats, was denied Secret Service protection multiple times when he ran for president earlier this year. As a result, he had to personally bear the expenses of hiring private security.

While the Marshals Service recently requested $28 million to enhance its core duties, such as safeguarding federal judges, it is interesting to note the contrasting situation with Fauci’s security funding.

Fauci’s security expenses reached $15 million after leaving office, according to recently uncovered documents. The revelation, reported by Straight Arrow News, sheds light on the extensive measures taken to ensure Fauci’s safety.
