Woman Arrested After Threatening Wisconsin Rapids Elementary School

A 24-year-old woman from Wisconsin Rapids was arrested on Tuesday for making a threat against Washington Elementary School, prompting a heavy police response.

According to a statement from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, at 11:53 a.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to the school after staff reported receiving a threatening phone call. Due to the potential danger, additional police officers were stationed at the school throughout the afternoon for added security.

The police investigation quickly led detectives to identify the phone number used to make the threat and, subsequently, the person responsible. The woman, whose name has not been released as charges have not yet been filed, was issued a ticket and taken into custody at the Wood County Jail.

The authorities are planning to seek charges of swatting and making terrorist threats against the woman, though the case is still under review by the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation was supported by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, assisting in the effort to resolve the situation quickly and safely.
