Sundance Head, a country music artist and winner of The Voice Season 11, is on the mend after being accidentally shot while at his ranch in rural Texas.
According to his agent, Trey Newman, the incident occurred on Friday. Sundance himself called 911 after the shooting, and paramedics quickly stabilized him. He was then airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, Texas, where he is receiving treatment.
Sundance’s wife, Misty, shared that paramedics informed her the bullet struck her husband in the stomach but miraculously avoided any vital organs. Instead, the bullet became lodged in a fatty area, preventing more severe injuries.
Details of how the shooting happened remain unclear. However, Sundance’s agent mentioned that the singer frequently goes hunting on his ranch, leading to speculation that it may have been a hunting accident. Earlier that day, Sundance posted a photo on social media from inside a tent, describing his morning as filled with the “sound of silence,” suggesting he might have been on a hunting trip.
Authorities are treating the incident as an accidental shooting at this time.
Misty has asked for prayers for her husband’s recovery and is on her way to visit him in the hospital.
Sundance Head is well-known in the country music scene. He first gained national attention as a semifinalist on American Idol in 2007 and later went on to win The Voice in 2016, with Blake Shelton as his coach.
Fans have expressed their support for the singer and his family, sending well-wishes for a swift recovery.
