Chris Wallace Lists Kalorama Home for $6.4 Million After Departure from CNN
Veteran broadcaster Chris Wallace is parting ways with his iconic Washington, DC home, listing the stately property in the prestigious Kalorama neighborhood for $6.4 million.
Wallace, who recently announced his departure from CNN, has lived in the 1929 Georgian Revival mansion with his wife, Lorraine, since 1997, the same year they married. The couple originally purchased the home for $1.1 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The 7,000-square-foot home, rich in history, features four bedrooms, a grand entrance with classic columns, and formal rooms designed for entertaining high-profile guests.
Wallace, who previously hosted Fox News Sunday, fondly remembers welcoming notable figures such as the late Senator Ted Kennedy and Justice Antonin Scalia. Hollywood actor George Clooney, a friend of Wallace’s, has also been a guest at the residence.
While Wallace bids farewell to this Washington home, he and Lorraine plan to make their property in Annapolis, Maryland, their primary residence. Lorraine runs a small business that supplies fresh produce to local restaurants. However, they will keep a smaller home in DC.
Reflecting on his time in Kalorama, Wallace remarked on the neighborhood’s political diversity, where even former First Lady Michelle Obama has been seen walking her dog. “Whatever the political differences are, or the feelings about what somebody said on television about somebody else, we’re neighbors in Kalorama,” Wallace told the Journal.
The home’s design combines elegance and comfort, with a spacious living room featuring a bay window and an 18th-century marble fireplace. The second floor houses private bedrooms and a cozy office, while the lower level includes a gym and guest suite. Wallace fondly recalled family memories, saying, “I would go out with my sons on weekends and play football in the street.”
Throughout the years, the Wallaces made minimal changes to the home, with the most significant being a kitchen remodel, where Lorraine, a cookbook author, tested her recipes. Wallace joked, “I was a very happy guinea pig.”
In his announcement about leaving CNN, Wallace expressed his desire to transition from cable news to focus on podcasting and streaming opportunities.
He joined CNN in 2021 to work on the short-lived CNN+ platform before hosting two shows on the main network. “CNN was very good to me… but [cable] was never what I signed up for,” he said.
