Georgia Governor Brian Kemp’s office is expressing outrage over the possibility that the illegal migrant responsible for the tragic murder of Laken Riley may have taken advantage of a free flight provided by the Biden administration before committing the heinous crime.
The public’s response was filled with anger and outrage when Jose Ibarra, 26, was handed a life sentence without the possibility of parole on Wednesday. Ibarra was convicted for the murder of a 22-year-old nursing student in Athens, Georgia. This particular case sparked a nationwide controversy surrounding immigration issues.
“The Republican governor’s spokesperson expressed outrage over the recent revelation of how Laken Riley’s alleged killer managed to make it to Georgia,” said the spokesperson in an interview with the Daily Caller. This statement was made just before the conviction of the Tren de Aragua gang member responsible for the crime.”
Ibarra’s former roommate, who testified during his trial earlier this week, stated that he had flown from New York to Georgia. He had requested a free flight while at the Roosevelt Hotel migrant intake center in Manhattan.
According to sources, The Post later learned that Ibarra had been transported on a taxpayer-funded flight from JFK to Atlanta, Ga., in September of last year. This occurred just six months prior to his subsequent murder of the Augusta University student.
Kemp’s office has voiced its demand for answers from the Biden administration regarding the circumstances that led to Ibarra’s presence in the state of Georgia.
According to a spokesperson for Governor Kemp, despite the Biden administration’s lack of response to their request for accurate and detailed information on illegal border crossings and relocation efforts, Governor Kemp has taken steps to address the border crisis in Georgia.
According to him, the governor has taken decisive action by deploying our National Guardsmen to the U.S. southern border and signing legislation that strengthens Georgia’s reporting requirements for illegal immigrants arrested for crimes and bans sanctuary cities.
The Roosevelt Hotel, where Ibarra reportedly accepted the flight, was designated as a temporary migrant intake center by the city in response to New York City’s growing asylum seeker crisis.
To alleviate the crisis, the city established a “reticketing center” in October 2023. This center offered migrants federally funded one-way plane tickets to any destination around the globe.
In response to Ibarra’s conviction, Kemp released a statement expressing his belief that justice had been served, while also criticizing the Biden administration’s open border policy.
“He said that this criminal should have never been allowed to enter our country, and it was certainly unacceptable for him to continue staying after shamelessly violating our laws.”
“Laken Riley’s tragic experience serves as a stark reminder that open border policies have proven to be ineffective. Today’s verdict reinforces the importance of prioritizing the safety and security of our communities above all else.”
