Amazon pledges to employ 5,000 refugees

Amazon has made a commitment to hire 5,000 refugees in the United States by the end of 2024. In order to ensure their successful integration into the workplace, the company will provide specialized support and resources through its Welcome Door program.

Amazon has announced a program called Welcome Door, which aims to support refugees and humanitarian immigrants in the United States. Through this program, individuals can receive a range of benefits, including reimbursement for government filing fees, assistance with citizenship applications, access to legal resources, and mentorship opportunities.

Since April, Welcome Door has also been offering access to additional resources, such as skills training, college tuition, and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses through Amazon’s Career Choice program, which becomes available to employees after 90 days.

“Starting over in a new place after being forced to leave your home is undoubtedly challenging,” expressed Janet Saura, Vice President of Employee Relations at Amazon. ”

At Amazon, we are dedicated to extending our assistance by offering refugees and other displaced individuals opportunities for meaningful employment.

Additionally, through our Welcome Door program, we are committed to providing immigration support to those in need.”
