The source of these threats was a controversial post she made, expressing her refusal to serve customers who support Donald Trump. It is important to note that Kristin’s stance is legally protected under the Human Rights Protection Act of Tennessee.
“I refuse to engage in business with individuals who show support for the president-elect. This decision stems from my desire to establish a secure environment for myself, my employees, and my loved ones,” stated a now-deleted post on the shop’s Instagram page, as reported by WREG.com.
Wolter recently took to social media to announce that her shop will be temporarily closed for the week. This decision came after she received a series of disturbing death threats. In response to this alarming situation, both the shop’s and her personal social media accounts have been set to private.
In Tennessee, businesses have the right to decline service based on political beliefs since the Human Rights Protection Act of Tennessee only safeguards against discrimination based on age, race, and gender.
Wolter expressed to WREG.com that she intends to pursue legal recourse, while also making a charitable contribution to the American Civil Liberties Union from her sales in the interim.
