Richard Gere, along with his wife Alejandra Silva and their two children, has made the decision to relocate to Spain.
During Wednesday’s episode of the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the “Pretty Woman” actor shared exciting news about his family’s upcoming plans.
“You’re leaving, I keep seeing it in the headlines. This is major news!” Fallon exclaimed, initiating the conversation.
“My wife is from Spain, and she has spent about seven years here with me. So, we have decided to spend a few years in Madrid,” the actor shared. “Our children are fluent in both languages, so they will thrive there.”
During a live interview on ‘Today’, Richard Gere shocked viewers by flipping off Savannah Guthrie. This unexpected gesture came just a day after Cher dropped an F-bomb during her appearance on the show. The incident left audiences in disbelief as they witnessed the uncharacteristic behavior from the renowned actor.
Richard Gere, who is 75 years old, went on to elaborate that his wife, who is 41 years old, had a childhood immersed in a large Spanish family. In this family, her grandmother played a crucial role as the unifying force that brought everyone together.
After her grandmother’s passing two years ago, Silva became the central figure of their extended family, assuming the role of the new matriarch.
“She’s already making arrangements for Sunday lunches, expecting around 35 people,” he mentioned, highlighting their plans to spend Thanksgiving in Madrid too. Gere and Silva initiated their relationship in 2014 and later discreetly exchanged vows in 2018.
In February 2019, they joyfully welcomed their first child, a son named Alexander. The couple confirmed in November that Silva was expecting their second child, and in April 2020, she gave birth to son James.
The leading man from “Runaway Bride” also has a son named Homer, who is 24 years old, with his second wife, Carey Lowell.
In recent months, there has been a trend among Hollywood couples announcing their decision to relocate outside of the United States. Gere and Silva are the latest to join this group.
Days following his re-election for a second term as President of the United States, Eva Longoria disclosed that she had “escaped” the country.
“I consider myself fortunate,” confessed the renowned actress of “Desperate Housewives” during her exclusive interview with Marie Claire in November 2024. She acknowledged, “I have the privilege to embark on an escape and explore different places.
Unfortunately, the majority of Americans do not share the same fortune. They will remain confined within this dystopian country, and it deeply saddens me to witness their anxiety and despair.”
Eva Longoria, a native of Texas, revealed that she, along with her husband José Bastón and their 6-year-old son Santiago, divide their time between Spain and Mexico.
However, she made it clear that her decision to travel to Mexico and Spain was based on her professional commitments, rather than any involvement with the 2024 presidential election.
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, made a bold decision to relocate to England.
According to TMZ, they expressed feelings of being “very disillusioned” and made the decision to “get the hell out” of the country following the victory of the President-elect over Kamala Harris.
After the election, they found a new home in the Cotswolds, a charming area in South West England, approximately two hours away from London. This property was purchased before the election, and it has become their settled abode.
