Alec Baldwin to be Recognized with Lifetime Achievement Award at Turin Film Fest

The highly anticipated A-lister making waves at the Turin Film Festival in Italy, which began on Friday, is not other than the esteemed Sharon Stone. Nor is it the renowned Angelina Jolie, who will grace the event as a director, showcasing her latest film, “Without Blood.”

Alec Baldwin, the actor involved in the tragic accident on the set of the indie Western film “Rust,” had his involuntary manslaughter case dismissed in August.

The incident occurred on October 21, 2021, when Baldwin fired a live round from a prop revolver, which was supposed to contain dummy bullets. Tragically, the shot resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured the film’s director, Joel Souza, narrowly avoiding his spine.

Baldwin is set to arrive in the charming Italian town of Turin on Monday, where he will be presented with the esteemed Stella a Mole, a prestigious award recognizing his outstanding contributions to the film industry.

Prior to a screening of his thrilling masterpiece from 1990, “The Hunt for Red October,” he will address the international media in a press conference. Alongside him, Stone and Mathew Broderick will also be honored with the TFF career prize. Notable past recipients of this esteemed recognition include Kevin Spacey and Angelina Jolie.

“Rust, the film directed by Joel Souza and featuring the new cinematographer Bianca Cline, received a warm welcome at its premiere at the Camerimage Film Festival in Toruń, Poland.

Despite Baldwin’s absence, the audience showed great enthusiasm for the film. Prior to the screening, a minute of silence was observed to pay tribute to the late Halyna Hutchins.”

Rachel Mason, a close friend of Hutchins, introduced the screening. She emphasized the controversy and challenges that surrounded the film following the accident. Mason also expressed her admiration for Souza and Cline, referring to them as “real heroes” for successfully finishing the movie despite the tragedy.

In “Rust,” a young boy of 13 finds himself in a difficult situation when he unintentionally takes the life of a rancher in 1880s Wyoming. Alongside his grandfather, portrayed by Baldwin, he goes on the run, seeking to escape the consequences of his actions.

The Turin Film Festival is set to run from November 22nd to November 30th, marking its 42nd edition.
