Missing woman’s body found by search crews on Lake Greenwood

According to FOX Carolina, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) announced that they have successfully located the body of a woman who had gone missing on Lake Greenwood. The search for the woman was intensive and lasted for a significant period of time.

On Monday evening, a statement was released by SCDNR.

“Our officers have recovered the body of a missing woman at Lake Greenwood in Laurens County. The woman went missing after a tubing incident May 25.We extend our gratitude to all of the officers, investigators and divers involved, as well as the supportive Greenwood community and everyone who offered additional help. Our heartfelt condolences remain with the victim’s family and loved ones.”

According to the Coroner’s Office, 30-year-old SSgt. Porsha Griffin has been identified as the missing woman who was found.

On May 25, SSgt. Porsha Griffin, 30, fell into the water while tubing behind a boat. Unfortunately, she was not wearing a life jacket and did not resurface, according to officials.

Officials have stated that Griffin recently graduated from nursing school and was a member of the South Carolina National Guard. She had been assigned to the 116th Tactical Installation Networking Enhanced Company, 228th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade located in Spartanburg.
