Indianapolis liquor store stabbing results in man’s sentencing for murder

Online court records reveal that a man who allegedly stabbed another man outside a liquor store on Indianapolis’ east side in 2022 has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

On Monday, Eddie Muex Jr. received an 18-year sentence for the stabbing of Terryus Thomas, who was 31 years old at the time. Muex Jr. has already spent almost two years in jail, which will be credited towards his sentence.

Muex Jr. expressed his desire to file an appeal.

In April, he was convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has reported that Muex Jr. has been taken into custody with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Office. This arrest is in relation to the death of Thomas.

During the investigation, an attorney informed the investigators that his client, Muex Jr., had reached out to him regarding the stabbing incident. The investigators then arranged to meet Muex Jr. at the attorney’s office, where he provided a statement regarding the incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Muex Jr. informed investigators that he had engaged in a heated argument with Thomas on the previous night before the stabbing incident. Muex Jr. further added that Thomas was in possession of a knife and had provoked the altercation.
