Feds: Newark Resident Confesses to Spree of Armed Robberies and Carjackings

According to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger, Deion Nance committed a carjacking in December 2021. He pointed a gun at the victim’s face, pulled them out of their 2016 Toyota Corolla, and drove away with the vehicle.

In the span of one day, Nance committed robbery in two separate restaurants, one of which was a Taco Bell located on Broad Street in Newark during daylight hours. Authorities revealed that Nance carried out the robbery while driving a vehicle that was earlier stolen at gunpoint from Harrison. A month had passed since the previous incident.

Sellinger stated that Nance absconded with $176 from Taco Bell before making a quick escape. Sellinger added that Nance then proceeded to try and rob another restaurant at gunpoint.

In October, when he is sentenced, he could face a maximum of 20 years in prison.
