Suspect arrested for deadly shooting incident at Atlantis Apartments in Virginia Beach

A fatal shooting at the Atlantis Apartment complex in Virginia Beach has led to the arrest of a man on Saturday.

At 3:06 a.m. on June 29, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) received a call about a victim who had been shot at an apartment complex. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that the victim, Jesus Alfredo Jeronimo Can, who was 24 years old, had already passed away.

Brian James II, the 20-year-old suspect in the shooting incident, was apprehended by the VBPD SWAT team and Warrant Fugitive Unit at around 9 p.m. following a thorough investigation.

According to police, James has been charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm during the commission of a felony.
