In Homestead, Florida, on Thursday morning, the sight of a man’s feet hanging from the ceiling of a storage facility provided an unexpected source of amusement for onlookers.
Through the transparent windows, the attempted escape of the would-be thief was visible as he struggled to manage it.
Onlookers couldn’t help but react as the culprit attempted to pull himself up.
As captured on cellphone video, one person was overheard uttering, “What an idiot.” As the scene unfolded, one spectator exclaimed, “Oh no! He’s going to fall!” while another callously suggested, “Let him, let him.”
After a while, the potential robber retreated back into the SmartStop storage facility, which is situated close to Southwest 304th Street and South Dixie Highway.
As the man attempted to escape, the clear windows offered a perfect view of his failed endeavor. This led to his arrest by the police, who caught up with him in a parking lot nearby.
According to the man who captured the video of the break-in at the Homestead warehouse, the suspect has previously targeted the storage unit warehouse.
As per the witness’s account, the man had already stolen sneakers worth tens of thousands of dollars from his storage unit. Homestead police has been contacted by Local 10 News to gather information regarding the identity and age of the perpetrator.
