Report: Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes into July 4th BBQ in NYC, Killing 2 and Injuring 7

According to the police and news reports, a suspected drunk driver from New Jersey hit a park in New York City, killing at least two people and injuring seven others. The incident occurred on July 4th, while the park was filled with celebrants.

During a press conference, NYPD officials revealed that a speeding grey Ford F-150 driver disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Water and Jackson streets. The vehicle then mounted the sidewalk and crashed into a crowd of people who were celebrating the Fourth of July at Corlears Hook Park, just before 9 p.m.

During the press conference, firefighters reported that four individuals were trapped beneath the truck. Emergency medical services (EMS) responded and treated a total of nine patients, but unfortunately, two people did not survive. NBC New York later reported that the death toll had risen to three.

According to abc7, the driver involved in the incident is a 44-year-old resident of New Jersey. Daily Voice has contacted the NYPD to verify this information. According to officials, the driver was apprehended by some kind-hearted individuals who ensured he stayed put until the arrival of first responders.

During a press conference, Mayor Eric Adams stated that the incident did not seem to be related to terrorism.
