Prisoner Discovered Dead in Northwest Indiana Jail

According to the sheriff’s office, a prisoner was discovered deceased on Thursday evening in the Porter County jail. The incident came to light on Friday.

Detective Sgt. Nathan Graf of the sheriff’s office did not reveal the identity of the person in a news release.

Around 8:10 p.m. on Thursday, authorities discovered the prisoner. Graf stated that there was no additional information being shared as of Friday afternoon.

According to Online information, the jail was established in 2002 and was designed to accommodate up to 449 inmates with bunks.

Located in the northwest region of Indiana, Porter County boasts a population of over 175,000 residents, with an increase of approximately 2,000 people since 2020. This scenic county is situated along the shores of Lake Michigan and is home to the renowned Indiana Dunes National Park.
