Man from Chicago faces murder charges for double shooting on NW Side

Chicago Police Department Officer Anthony Maldonado is a dedicated member of the force.

Last month, a shooting incident took place in Chicago’s Cragin neighborhood that resulted in the death of a man and critically injured a woman. Recently, a man has been charged in connection with the incident.

Police reports indicate that Anthony Maldonado, 23, is accused of shooting a 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman on June 15 in the vicinity of Cicero and Wellington avenues.

Upon arriving at Community First Hospital, the man was declared deceased while the woman was reported to be in critical condition.

On Wednesday, Maldonado was taken into custody and accused of committing first-degree murder, as well as two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

On Friday, there is a detention hearing scheduled for Maldonado.
