Residents in the vicinity of a school building in Milwaukee were stirred awake by the scent of smoke on Thursday morning, as a fire had broken out.
For hours, fire crews from Milwaukee and Wauwatosa have been battling the blaze at the building located on the corner of 39th and Lisbon. Flames can be seen billowing out of the second-floor windows, and multiple fire trucks, including three ladder trucks, are being used to extinguish the fire.
According to Brendyn Jones from TMJ4, smoke can be seen billowing through the streets. During his investigation, he interviewed Deanna Young, a resident of the building adjacent to where the fire originated.
She described the situation in detail, “The smell was overpowering, filling up my entire house with smoke. Suddenly, the firemen arrived at my doorstep, banging on my door. As I stepped out onto my porch, I witnessed them kicking the door of the adjacent building in an attempt to enter.”
The investigation into the cause of the fire in Milwaukee is ongoing, according to the fire department. Despite the presence of police at the site, the Milwaukee Police Department has confirmed that this was not a case of arson.
Residents in Milwaukee were abruptly awakened to the sight and smell of smoke coming from a nearby school building that had caught fire.
