At approximately 11:30 CDT, officials were alerted to a shooting incident in the 12100 block of South Harvard Avenue. Reports indicate that an individual was shot and emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The woman was quickly transported to Christ Hospital by first responders, but unfortunately, she was declared dead upon arrival, as her condition was critical.
If the individual responsible for the crime could be identified and brought to justice, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service is willing to offer a reward of up to $250,000.
According to the residents of West Pullman, the mail carrier who has not yet been identified was a well-liked individual.
Local resident Woodrow Davis shared with the media that his neighbors had been discussing the woman who passed away all day. According to Davis, they had been providing her with water throughout the day and described her as a kind-hearted individual.
The shooting is currently under investigation by Area Two detectives, as confirmed by the police. However, no one has been apprehended in connection with the incident so far.
