Trump maintains significant leads in Florida and Texas, according to NYT poll

Former President Trump is currently holding a significant advantage in the presidential race in Florida and Texas, as indicated by a recent poll published by The New York Times. This lead comes just one month before Election Day.

According to a recent survey conducted by the Times and Siena College, President Trump is currently leading in his home state of Florida, with a 13 percentage point lead over Vice President Harris. Additionally, Trump is also ahead of Harris by 6 percentage points in the state of Texas.

Some Democrats may have believed that the enthusiasm generated by Harris’s campaign, after she replaced President Biden as the candidate in July, could potentially make Florida and Texas competitive states. However, the findings suggest otherwise.

Florida was once seen as a battleground state, but Trump emerged victorious there in both the 2016 and 2020 elections. Over the years, it has leaned more towards the Republican party. Texas, on the other hand, has not supported a Democratic presidential candidate since 1976.

According to the same poll, Harris held a 3-percentage point lead over Trump on a national level.

According to the polling index from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ), the Republican nominee is currently leading by 2.8 points in the state of Florida, with 49.7 percent support compared to Harris’s 46.9 percent. In Texas, Trump has a significant advantage with a lead of nearly 6 points, receiving 51.6 percent support while the vice president trails behind at 45.9 percent.

In the final weeks of the campaign, polling has indicated a tightening race for the Senate in both Florida and Texas. Both states have Senate races on the ballot in November.

According to the latest poll averages, Senator Ted Cruz (R) is currently leading his Democratic challenger, Representative Colin Allred, by a slim margin of just over 3 points in the Texas Senate race. The numbers stand at 48.1 percent for Cruz and 45 percent for Allred.

In Florida, the polls show that incumbent Senator Rick Scott (R) has a lead of 2.7 points over his challenger, former Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. The current figures are at 45.7 percent for Scott and 43 percent for Mucarsel-Powell.
