Good morning everyone! The Northeast is blessed with cobalt blue skies as dry air settles in and high pressure ensures that a strong, compact coastal storm stays well offshore.
While there may be some enhanced tides and coastal flooding concerns, we can look forward to a glorious stretch of five days for much of the region.
Today, temperatures will range from seasonable to seasonably cool as the air starts to warm up from the recent cold spell. Tomorrow, we can look forward to near 70 degree temperatures along the coastal plain, which will increase to the mid 70’s on Sunday.
By Monday, we may even reach 75-80 degrees. The very mild air will persist until Tuesday, after which we can expect cooler temperatures once again.
A powerful low-pressure system is currently moving through the Rockies and reaching the western Plains, making it the main focus of our attention in the Western region.
This weather system is expected to bring about heavy showers, thunderstorms, and even the possibility of isolated severe weather.
Moreover, it is also likely to result in significant snowfall in the higher elevation mountains. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to see snow accumulations of 1-2 feet in these areas.
In lower elevation areas like New Mexico, Colorado, the panhandle of Texas, and westernmost Oklahoma & Kansas, there is a possibility of experiencing locally damaging winds, frequent lightning, hail, and heavy rainfall.
Although high pressure will prevent this activity from spreading further east, areas on the easternmost edge of this energy may encounter scattered thunderstorms that could be quite severe in the next few days.
Here is the NYC Metro forecast for today:
Today will be a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and no rain. However, coastal areas might experience some minor coastal flooding due to the combination of a low pressure system and the moon’s influence on tides.
The temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60s, providing a pleasant day for everyone.
Monday will bring mild to warm weather, with temperatures peaking in the 75-80 range for most of the area. However, along the immediate shore, cooler conditions can be expected.
The temperature will scale back a bit on Tuesday, with highs in the mid 70s. By Wednesday, the temperatures will drop even further, reaching the 60s.
