Cruise Line Offers Four-Year Trip for Americans Looking to Avoid Trump’s Second Term

A Florida-based cruise company, Villa Vie Residences, has introduced an ambitious offering for Americans looking to escape the political climate during President-elect Donald Trump’s second term in office.

The company’s new “Tour La Vie” program allows passengers to embark on a world cruise, visiting over 140 countries while avoiding the U.S. for up to four years.

The Tour La Vie program features a range of extended options aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey, including a one-year “Escape from Reality” cruise, a two-year “Mid-Term Selection” cruise, a three-year “Everywhere but Home” option, and the ultimate four-year “Skip Forward” trip.

Each package offers a chance to explore exotic destinations without returning to the U.S., offering a unique way for some to disconnect from the political scene.

“We came up with this marketing campaign before we even knew who would win. Regardless of who would have won, you would have half of the population upset,” explained Villa Vie CEO Mikael Petterson. “We just wanted to give people who feel threatened a way to get out.”

Prices for the journey start at just under $40,000 per year, with four-year packages running from $256,000 for single occupancy to $320,000 for double occupancy.

The price includes all food, drinks (served with dinner), Wi-Fi, medical visits, and housekeeping. While the ship will offer immersive travel experiences, such as a month in the Caribbean and an extensive South American tour, passengers will still be able to vote in U.S. elections through mail-in ballots.

The Villa Vie Odyssey, which houses up to 600 residents, is currently in the second month of a 15-year world cruise that will visit seven continents, 13 World Wonders, and over 100 tropical islands.

Although the ship’s journey was delayed in Belfast for repairs, it resumed its voyage in late September. As Villa Vie Residences has already seen a significant increase in inquiries, it appears that many are drawn to the idea of combining adventure with a political escape.
