Man accused of shooting girlfriend: ‘All this over a female’

According to an affidavit, Taylor Malcolm reached out to the YWCA in Lafayette for assistance in leaving her abusive partner just before she was shot at 3:15 a.m. on Friday.

She reached out to the YWCA domestic violence shelter seven times in just four days, with two of those calls being made within half an hour of the shooting.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed on Monday, YWCA employees were met with the sound of screaming and shattering before the call abruptly went silent early on Friday morning.

According to the police, there is no evidence to suggest that Malcolm contacted them on the night of the shooting to report any incidents of domestic violence.

Police stated that the dog was unharmed and safely returned to a family member.

On Monday, authorities were asked about the status of Malcolm’s health, and they confirmed that she had survived the shooting. However, she is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Indianapolis.

According to the police report, Malcolm stated that Reed was her boyfriend, while she received treatment before being taken to an Indianapolis hospital.

According to the affidavit, she informed the officers by saying “He’s going to kill me, lock him up.”

According to the affidavit, an individual who witnessed the incident reported to the police that they heard some heated conversation inside an apartment, which was followed by the sound of gunfire a short while later.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered a total of seven shell casings in the parking lot.

According to police reports, while Malcolm received medical attention, Reed attempted to flee the apartment complex by driving his Jeep through the grassy area that separated the west-facing apartments and a ditch. The authorities chased him down until he stopped his vehicle in the 1700 block of South Creasy Lane, where he was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder.

According to the affidavit, Reed commented “All this drama just because of a woman,” while being apprehended by the authorities.

Reed was taken into custody by officers who suspected him of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, pointing a firearm, and resisting law enforcement. He was subsequently jailed on these charges.

It is highly probable that the prosecutors will be granted an extension to submit charges and it may happen towards the end of the week.
