Mother of four found hanging from a League City pier moved here to escape an abusive relationship

Giselle Salazar’s family is suffering.

The 30-year-old mother of four was found hanging from a dock in League City on Friday.

“She was the most charismatic person you’d ever meet,” her brother Nathan Paz said.

He and his mother are now trying to figure out how to first break the news to Giselle’s three youngest children before Sunday’s funeral.

Next, they’ll need to find the resources to raise her 10, 8, and 6-year-old kids. Her oldest child lives with their father.

“This is a heartbreaking time for my mother. She’s trying to keep everything together,” Nathan said, talking about how Giselle was the youngest of six children and how everyone loved her. “And she saw the best in everyone. She was always looking for the best in people.”

Giselle and her children moved in with Nathan and her mother in the fall of 2022. They’d been in Colorado for about eight years. Giselle’s family says she’d been in an abusive relationship for years and fled Colorado for that reason.

“She was trying to change her life,” Nathan said.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page ‘In Loving Memory of Giselle.’ Nathan says they need help paying for the funeral, and anything left over would help him and his mother care for Giselle’s children.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the League City Police Department at 281-332-2566.
