SC woman wins lottery game’s grand prize but says she can’t quit her job

According to a news release by officials from the South Carolina Education Lottery, despite winning the grand prize in a lottery game, a woman from Midlands expressed disappointment that she still had to continue working.

After winning $250,000 on a scratch-off lottery game, she joked, “I wish it was more so I could quit my job.”

According to lottery officials, the lucky winner has decided to use the recently acquired fortune to make some much-needed improvements to her home and also put away some savings for her child’s education.

South Carolina is one of the eleven states in the US that permits lottery winners to maintain their anonymity. This means that the winner will be able to keep their privacy intact, as they will not have to disclose their identity to the public. Other states that allow winners to remain anonymous are Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia.

According to the release, the chances of winning the grand prize of $250,000 in the Giant Jumbo Bucks game were 1-in-960,000. Out of the six tickets that won the top prize, this was the first one to be claimed. This leaves $1,250,000 of unclaimed grand prizes still available, as stated by officials.

As per the statement, The Mini Mart was granted a commission of $2,500 for vending the winning ticket.
